Soju Japanese pears bring the crisp texture, abundant juice and refreshing sweetness of nashi to your table. Grown in Niigata Prefecture, Japan, these pears are supplied by Soju Farm in Sanjo.

What's in the box?

Approximately 5-7 Japanese pears, with a total weight of approximately 6.6 lb (3 kg). The variety is selected according to the season and availability; this is not a box containing all six varieties.

A changing selection of Japanese pears

Depending on the order timing, the selection may include:

  • Akizuki: sweet, juicy flesh with a fine texture.
  • Shinmizuki: rich sweetness balanced by refreshing acidity.
  • Shinko: a Niigata variety with juicy flesh and a sweet-tart balance.
  • Shin-O: a Niigata variety known for pronounced sweetness and a crisp bite.
  • Nansui: a variety developed in Nagano, known for its sweetness, abundant juice and relatively mild acidity.
  • Oshu: a large, late-season pear with tender, fine-textured flesh.

Niigata has a history of pear cultivation dating back to the Edo period. Soju Farm is based in Sanjo, where generations of fruit growers have developed their knowledge of the region and its seasonal harvests.

Soju Farm's work spans cultivation, harvest, sorting and packing. The team selects fruit and prepares it for shipment with attention to the quality of each seasonal harvest.
