Taishu persimmons from Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, are prized for their pear-like crunch, abundant juice and delicate sweetness. Supplied by JA Chikuzen Asakura, this autumn fruit is best enjoyed while its flesh is still crisp.

What makes Taishu special?

  • Crisp, juicy texture: a refreshing bite that sets Taishu apart from softer persimmons.
  • Naturally light-colored skin: yellow-orange fruit may retain a little green near the top, even when ready to enjoy.
  • Characteristic markings: fine ring-like lines called jomon can appear on the skin and are a recognized feature of this variety.

What's in the box?

Approximately 12-14 Taishu persimmons. Fruit size and appearance vary naturally.

How to enjoy

Peel and slice to enjoy the crisp texture. Keep in a cool place away from direct sunlight, or refrigerate, and enjoy soon after arrival.
