Japan’s Jewel in the Sky: Japan Airlines

Japan Airlines is the flag carrier airline for Japan, meaning it holds an extra responsibility to show the world the peak of Japanese capabilities on every flight.

Consistently listed as one of, if not the best economy classes in the world, JAL has made flying an exquisite experience no matter where you’re sitting in the aircraft.

However, their first class is considered a pinnacle of comfort, luxury, and elegance.

For four years running, JAL received APEX WORLD CLASS 2025 certification in recognition of its “industry-leading approach to safety and well-being, sustainability and the overall guest experience." APEX, or The Airline Passenger Experience Association, awards recognition to airlines that embody “the world’s best-in-class performance on the dimensions that matter most to today’s travelers."2

Welcome to the JAL Agriport: Revitalizing a Region

A 10-minute drive from Narita Airport, you’ll find yourself transported to a revolutionary farm inspired by the wide open space of an airport runway.

JAL cultivates these precious fruits as part of a regional revitalization effort. In collaboration with 9 regions surrounding Narita Airport (Narita, Tomisato, Katori, Sammu, Sakae, Kozaki, Tako, Shibayama and Yokoshibahikari), JAL Agriport is on a mission to support local farmers and foster a strong, thriving community through the promotion of Japanese agriculture and food culture.

World-famous strawberries are grown here. Varieties like Benihoppe, Yayoihime, Tochiotome and more are delicately nurtured to perfection before being served in first-class JAL lounges and on the plates of their most valued guests.

With the Ikigai Fruits collaboration, JAL first-class flyers and JMB members can experience even more luxury Japanese fruits grown all over the country and desired by chefs in kitchens across the world.

The Exquisite JAL x Ikigai Fruits Dessert Menu

After careful deliberation, the JAL and Ikigai Fruits teams have cultivated an exquisite dessert experience featuring a handful of the collection’s most spectacular specimens.

BERRY Strawberries

A dazzling spectrum of color, aroma, and mouth-watering flavor. BERRY Farm’s red and pink strawberries are an artistic delight on top of a culinary triumph. Lucky guests will encounter some of the most internationally coveted strawberry varieties: Berry Pop Suzu and Awayuki.

Vibrant red and delicate pink coloring tease the life-changing sweetness contained within, and each more sweet than the last.

Shizuoka Crown Melon

The “King of Fruits” in Japan, this melon deserves more than just a crown.

Tucked away in rural Shizuoka Prefecture, you’ll find the kingdom where these agricultural marvels are meticulously cultivated to be the uncontested peak of Japanese melons.

A Crown Melon is raised from the moment it sprouts to be one of the few elite fruits chosen to go to market each year. Every Crown Melon is raised as the only fruit on its plant so it can receive 100% of the energy and effort from that particular tree.

Individual melons are granted a literal Seal of Approval once they pass the rigorous standards required to be considered a true Crown Melon. The Seal comes with a number connected to the real, human farmer who brought the melon to fruition.

Umai Fuyu Persimmons

Anyone familiar with Japanese knows if something is “umai,” you absolutely need to try it. “Umai” means “amazing, spectacular, delicious, etc”, and these persimmons are worthy of the name.

The crystal-clear freshwater in Gifu Prefecture where UMAI Japan is located nourishes each tree to produce plump fruit with otherworldly sweetness.

The first bite of this delicate Japanese symbol is like a burst of sweet nectar. The flesh melts in your mouth and leaves you craving more.

Hakata Urekko Kiwifruit

Bursting with succulent juices and thick with sweet aroma, Hakata Urekko Kiwifruit are an exquisite treat. This Fukuoka Prefecture fruit is exceptional in its quality and taste, boasting a Brix level of over 15.

Each delicious specimen is measured for its sugar content using unique optical sensor technology.
