Eighth Wonder Persimmon, also known as Hatchin-gaki, is a seedless Japanese persimmon grown by BIG BRIDGE FARM in Niigata Prefecture. Its orange skin, gently flattened shape and mellow sweetness make it a distinctive taste of autumn.

A smooth, sweet Japanese persimmon

Hatchin-gaki is a regional name associated with the Hiratanenashi persimmon. After astringency removal, the fruit reveals its sweet, juicy flesh. Its texture becomes softer and smoother as it ripens.

Why "Eighth Wonder"?

The name Hatchin-gaki refers to the fruit as an eighth wonder following the traditional Seven Wonders of Echigo, a historic name for the Niigata region. The name celebrates the unusual seedless fruit.

How to enjoy

Slice and serve on its own to appreciate the mellow flavor. Enjoy it firmer for a more defined bite, or allow it to soften if you prefer a smoother texture.
