But what if you could follow the process of your luxury fruit experience from the moment it spends growing to the moment it’s in your hands?

What is an Ukiyo-banare Melon?

An exceptional treat rarely tasted even within Japan. This melon is not sold to the average Japanese public.

“Ukiyo-banare” means “far removed from this world.” In other words, it’s extraordinary by definition. This fruit is unlike anything you’ve ever tasted before.

Ukiyo-banare melons are a succulent delight rarely seen or eaten even by Japanese people. They are often used in exclusive, high-end Tokyo restaurants to delight the palates of patrons with a penchant for the best things money can buy.

The mouth-watering sweetness barely contained within the flesh of the Ukiyo-banare melon is a blessing only possible in northern Japan’s Aomori Prefecture. The fluctuating temperatures combined with diligent care from Mr. Shinya Yamazaki ensures each fruit is imbued with heavenly sweetness and impeccable quality.

Ukiyo-banare melons are meticulously grown and packaged to meet the elite standards of its clients. Even the outer packaging is a luxury experience, reflecting the mid-year Japanese gift-giving culture called “ochugen.” From its refined elegance to its subtle nods to the culture that gave birth to it, the Ukiyo-banare melon is a visual and flavor experience that embodies Japanese culture in every bite.

The Ikigai Fruits partnership bringing Ukiyo-banare melons to the tables of 30 incredibly lucky individuals is unlike any other opportunity before them. Not only will you be the recipient of a fruit so rare that most Japanese people haven’t even had the chance to try it, but you’ll also be part of the process from start to finish.

Meet Mr. Yamazaki, the Master of Ukiyo-banare Melons

Each melon from this exclusive collection will be grown on Hanakotoba Farm. Despite its produce appearing exclusively on tables meant to serve Japan’s richest diners, Hanakotoba Farm is a small family-run business tucked away in Tsugaru City, Aomori Prefecture.

Owner Shinya Yamazaki attributes the secret to the sweetness of his highly coveted produce to the rich soil his farm stands upon. The soil in this region is brimming with crucial minerals, and the soil is ripe and healthy thanks to the nearby Sea of Japan keeping it fresh with life.

Mr. Yamazaki is well-versed in modern farming technologies and techniques, but values the traditional methods of cultivation and the level of quality they bring to each harvest. Mr. Yamazaki listens to the soil, microbes, and the blessings they provide to the vegetables and fruits. His decision to rely on traditional farming methods is rooted in a strong desire to nurture his crops in harmony with nature.

When asked about his dream, Mr. Yamazaki said this: “My goal for the future has always been to set an example for other farmers, so my first step is exporting and finding ways to show the younger generation how they can achieve success.”

He also added he wants to deliver his impeccable fruits and vegetables while driving a Ferrari.

A Once-In-A-Lifetime Melon, Yours From Inception

As part of our partnership with Hanakotoba Farm, you won’t just own the resulting melon from the harvest, you’ll own the plant it comes from until the process is complete.

Once Mr. Yamazaki receives your reservation, your name tag will be placed on the plant. You will then receive monthly updates from Mr. Yamazaki on the health of the plant, the progress of the melon, and more.

There are no chemical fertilizers used in the production of the Ukiyo-banare melon. All pollination is done naturally with bees rather than complicated modern technologies or techniques. The water stress on the soil and plants is carefully controlled to reproduce the best sugar, appearance, and flavor aspects of the melon.

To ensure every fruit reaches its full delicious potential, Hanakotoba Farms only grows its rare fruit and vegetable varieties on a reservation basis. These highly contested spots are available for a limited number of customers, making this one of the rarest opportunities in the world.

Only 30 reservations exist for this collaboration Ukiyo-banare melon. 30 people in the whole world will have the opportunity to have a bite of a fruit barely seen outside – or even inside – of Japan.

It seems cliche to advertise anything as a “once in a lifetime experience” since the goal of any marketing campaign is to make you feel that way. But when it comes to the Ukiyo-banare melon, there’s no hyperbole or overstatement: this truly could be your only chance.

Will you take it before it’s too late?
